The NAV has seized assets worth more than 70 million forints from a car dealer involved in VAT fraud.
The Hungarian tax authority (NAV) has seized assets worth over 70 million HUF from a used car dealer involved in VAT fraud. The dealer attempted to evade VAT regulations while selling vehicles imported from the EU and failed to register their business location to hide their activities. NAV inspectors identified the actual location of the dealership through online car advertisements and rental invoices, using data from other EU member states to prove irregular sales. The company caused significant damage to the budget and gained an unfair competitive advantage over compliant dealers. To recover the budget loss, NAV seized high-value vehicles and cash at the undisclosed location and froze the company's bank account.
