Future doctors and nurses will now train together in a new simulation center in Leuven
Future doctors and nurses from KU Leuven and UCLL will now train together in a new simulation center in Leuven, focusing on medical emergencies. The Steps skills center allows students to practice in realistic healthcare environments using immersive technology. They will learn basic skills and improve their reasoning and communication abilities while simulating scenarios like acute allergic reactions. Instructors can adjust situations from a control room, and debriefings follow each simulation for reflection and learning. This collaborative training aims to enhance teamwork and decision-making among future healthcare professionals, ultimately leading to safer patient care. The facility will expand to include ongoing education and interprofessional training for healthcare workers.
