Toroczkai summons the general who warned former chief prosecutor Pál Fürcht under political pressure
On Wednesday, the former head of the Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office, Pál Fürcht, testified before the parliamentary committee investigating executive abuses. He revealed attempts to halt the Schadl-Völner case from higher authorities, specifically mentioning Szilvia Tomin, the former general of the National Protective Service. Fürcht stated he received instructions that the case should not proceed. Despite these challenges, the investigation continued after a prosecutor filed a complaint to ensure their work was not obstructed. The committee members questioned Fürcht about the source of these instructions and why he did not file a report himself. He claimed he was indirectly informed about the obstruction attempts. The committee plans to hear Tomin next, pending approval from the confidentiality holder, whose identity Fürcht insists must remain private.
