The government tightens the regulations on the shores of Lake Balaton further.

The new regulations for Balaton's waterfront areas, introduced last September, have not been implemented by local municipalities by the deadline. The Ministry of Transport and Investment stated that the regulations are stricter than previous ones, particularly in protecting natural shorelines. Due to ongoing changes and previous criticisms, the ministry is considering extending the deadline for compliance to June 30, 2029. The modification process will depend on public consultation and is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
