Portuguese workers affected by riots in Paris
The recent riots in Paris have left many Portuguese-French individuals temporarily unemployed and facing losses due to the misuse of their construction materials in violent actions. Paulo Marques, vice-president of the Council of Portuguese Communities, highlighted that businesses employing these individuals have been forced to close, impacting their ability to work. The Portuguese community, significant in the construction sector, is suffering financial setbacks as their materials are being used for vandalism. Despite the chaos, there is no evidence of Portuguese involvement in the riots, which are attributed to professional agitators. Following severe disturbances, a curfew has been imposed in parts of Paris, with over 2,400 arrests made nationwide during the unrest.
