Grain transport resumed. Russia has agreed.
According to Reuters, grain transport through the Sea of Azov and Kerch Strait to the Black Sea is permitted until November 15. Merchant ships in the Black Sea will be protected by the navy. Since July, grain exports have been disrupted due to mutual attacks between Ukraine and Russia. While maritime transit is not formally halted, it is severely limited. Ukraine has targeted Russian positions in Crimea and surrounding seas, while Russia has attacked merchant vessels heading to Ukrainian ports. These hostilities have forced both countries to seek alternative transport routes, negatively impacting grain sales. Both Russia and Ukraine are major grain exporters.
