Three dead in an attack in Syria, including a jihadist leader
A drone attack near Damascus resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a leader of the now-dissolved Al-Qaeda affiliate, Hurras al-Din. The attack occurred on a road linking Damascus to Homs, with the Syrian Defense Ministry confirming the incident. The deceased leader, Abou Abd al-Rahman al-Libi, was identified, while the other two victims remain unnamed. Reports indicate that rescue teams recovered the bodies from the scene. Hurras al-Din had announced its dissolution in January 2025 following a change in the ruling government in Syria, which had previously been led by Bashar al-Assad. The U.S. had also reported killing several leaders of the group earlier in 2025.
