Three municipalities join forces to advance with Metrobus

The Amadora City Council is set to sign a protocol with Lisbon and Oeiras municipalities to develop the Metrobus project, a dedicated electric bus transport system. This initiative aims to enhance public transport connections between residential and business areas in the three municipalities. The project, which has been in discussion since 2002, will create a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system linking Algés in Oeiras to Reboleira station in Amadora, with additional connections to Benfica and Buraca. The protocol will focus on planning, technical design, and feasibility studies, with an investment of €93.5 million announced for the project, expected to be operational by 2028.
