Penalties for firefighters and officials for the poisoned Bečva are valid. The Supreme Court rejected the appeal.

The Supreme Court upheld fines for a firefighter and an official convicted of negligence related to the 2020 Bečva river disaster. Their appeals were rejected, and they may still appeal to the Constitutional Court. Firefighter Jiří Pochyla failed to fulfill his duties during rescue operations, while official Věra Šulová was responsible for an illegal administrative decision regarding the company Energoaqua, deemed responsible for the ecological disaster. Energoaqua was fined by the Czech Environmental Inspection but not criminally charged due to lack of a specific perpetrator. The river was contaminated with cyanide, affecting 40 kilometers and killing over 40 tons of fish.
