Trio admits guilt in large-scale international love fraud against the elderly
Twin brothers Jamal and Kamal Abubakari, along with Amanda Joy Opoku-Boachie, deceived victims into believing they had romantic relationships, leading to over 8 million euros in fraudulent transfers to Ghana. Many victims were from Ohio, with complaints also from 24 other states and Europe. They are required to forfeit seized luxury items and face up to 20 years in prison, with sentencing set for next year. U.S. authorities have intensified actions against fraud networks, recently arresting hundreds and extraditing Ghanaian influencer Abu Trica for similar crimes.
