It will be harder to obtain a Polish passport. Here are the proposed changes
A new draft law on Polish citizenship has been proposed, reflecting changes since Poland's EU accession and increased immigration. It suggests extending the required legal residence period for citizenship applications, introducing a loyalty declaration, a citizenship test, and a higher language proficiency requirement. The draft also includes stricter grounds for citizenship denial, particularly concerning national security. The simplified process for restoring citizenship would be abolished, and applications must be submitted by the end of 2030. Additionally, the government proposes that citizenship decisions can be revoked if obtained through fraud, even years later. The law is expected to be reviewed by the Council of Ministers in the fourth quarter of this year.
