Trump's envoy to Putin: "You are also a humanitarian"

Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump's special envoy, praised Vladimir Putin during their meeting in St. Petersburg, discussing the end of the Russia-Ukraine war. Witkoff expressed admiration for Putin's humanitarian efforts, similar to Trump's. Prior to this, he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Nordic leaders in Oslo, describing the discussions as constructive. An American official noted strong agreement among the U.S., Ukraine, and Europe on next steps. However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the St. Petersburg meeting would focus only on economic agreements.
