"Everything is on track" for Algarve to host Dakar in 2027
The Algarve region is set to host the Dakar Rally in 2027, with plans for the prologue and first stage departure. André Gomes from Algarve Tourism confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the Automóvel Clube de Portugal. The event aims to establish the Estádio Algarve as the central hub for the rally. This marks a return of the Dakar to Portugal after 19 years, following the cancellation of the 2008 edition due to security concerns. The rally will not take place in Saudi Arabia in 2027, returning in 2028 instead, due to regional conflicts.
