"Everything is on track" for Algarve to host Dakar in 2027
The Algarve is set to host the prologue and first stage of the Dakar Rally in 2027, pending official confirmation. André Gomes, president of the Algarve Tourism Board, stated that discussions with the Automobile Club of Portugal are ongoing. The rally will feature a prologue and a departure likely heading to Morocco, with the Algarve Stadium serving as the central hub. This marks the return of the Dakar to Portugal after 19 years, following the cancellation of the 2008 edition due to security threats. The rally has previously taken place in various locations, including Paris and South America.
