Wave of protests in Germany: young people demand better education, vandals looted stores

In Germany, tens of thousands of young people protested for better education and healthcare, while vandals looted stores in Frankfurt. The demonstrations, organized by a group called 'Generation Z Takes Control', occurred in 34 cities, including Berlin and Munich. Although organizers expected 182,000 participants, only about 18,000 attended. Authorities reported some violence, including store break-ins and barricades set on fire in Hamburg. Economic difficulties and the retirement of the baby boomer generation are increasing tensions in German society. The national student organization BSK distanced itself from the protests and plans a separate event on November 20.
