The Turkish tourism industry calls for reforms. It wants fair competition and cheaper tickets
According to Davut Günaydın, vice president of TÜRSAB, travel agencies and tour operators are undervalued in Turkey's tourism sector. Approximately 80% of tourists in Antalya use their services, which are crucial for attracting international clients. TÜRSAB advocates for equal legal and economic conditions for local agencies and international booking platforms, emphasizing the need for regulations to ensure fair competition. Günaydın also calls for closer cooperation between airlines and travel agencies to strengthen the sector. He highlights the need for better coordination among government institutions and suggests reviewing museum entry fees to enhance competitiveness. Additionally, TÜRSAB seeks to facilitate international business travel for Turkish tourism professionals by advocating for green passports and addressing challenges with Schengen visa procedures. He stresses the importance of ongoing reforms to protect travel agencies and combat unfair competition.
