Tourism, from open air an added value of 17.2 billion
Camping and tourist villages in Italy contribute €17.2 billion to the economy, representing 13% of the national tourism value added. The sector has seen a 2% increase in visitor numbers from May to September 2026, despite initial uncertainties due to geopolitical crises and rising fuel costs. The growth is particularly notable in mountainous regions, with a 5% rise in average revenue per unit sold. The number of accommodations sold has increased by 60% since 2019, with a notable rise in bookings from emerging markets like Poland. Northern regions are leading in visitor growth, while central and island areas have seen slight declines but are recovering with new clientele.
