Tusk reacted to the move of the Lviv authorities. "Suicidal tactics"

Donald Tusk criticized the Lviv Regional Council's decision to declare 2027 as the year of the UPA and its leader Roman Shukhevych, calling it a "suicidal tactic" that harms Ukraine. He emphasized that such actions complicate relations between Poland and Ukraine and provide ammunition for opponents of Ukraine's EU membership. Tusk noted that he had warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about the negative implications of such gestures. Polish officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki, expressed concerns but received assurances that the decision would not be implemented. The Institute of National Remembrance condemned Shukhevych's legacy, highlighting his role in historical atrocities.
