"Those communist bastards want to give me a pardon!" Radim Kuthan rejected relief from the regime

Radim Kuthan, a political prisoner, rejected a presidential pardon, viewing it as a humiliation from a regime that wrongfully imprisoned him. Raised in a well-educated family, he became involved in anti-communist activities during his law studies. After being arrested by the State Security, he was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for his involvement with the Šeřík group. Despite harsh conditions in uranium mines affecting his health, he maintained his dignity and refused to accept leniency from the regime. His mother sought a pardon for him, but he remained steadfast in his principles. Eventually released on Christmas Eve 1956, he rebuilt his life and was rehabilitated in 1969. His story is documented by his sister, Milena Bubeníčková-Kuthanová, highlighting his resilience and commitment to justice.
