EU accepts Temu's plan to combat illegal products
The European Commission has approved Temu's action plan to comply with Digital Services Regulation and combat illegal product listings. The plan includes five measures, such as conducting a specific risk analysis and using reliable metrics to assess the effectiveness of actions taken. Temu will also evaluate its content moderation mechanisms and analyze how recommendation systems may contribute to the promotion of illegal products. The Commission has given Temu four months to conduct an interim risk assessment, following a previous non-compliance decision that resulted in a €200 million fine. This initiative aims to enhance consumer protection online and limit the spread of illegal products in Europe.
