The Ukrainians knocked out the Russian data centers so hard that Putin pulled out the emergency solution.
Ukraine has launched a significant attack on Yandex data centers, impacting three out of five targeted facilities. This operation has caused noticeable disruptions for the Russian population, with full recovery potentially taking years. In response, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree mandating that non-state data centers maintain 10% of their capacity for Russian IT infrastructure. This measure allows authorities quick access to data center resources when needed. A government committee will oversee the release of this capacity, which must be made available within 24 hours. The decree also temporarily permits the use of foreign data centers, pending approval from the FSB.
