A new dwarf planet may have been found in the Solar System, beyond Pluto
Astronomers have discovered a potential new dwarf planet named ED138 in the Solar System. If confirmed, it would join the existing five dwarf planets: Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris. However, ED138 is not yet officially classified as a dwarf planet, as its size needs to be determined, which may take several months. The discovery was made at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile, which operates a large digital camera to capture images of the sky.
