"We have taken another step closer to the separation of sports and daily politics" – the conflict of interest law has been submitted
A proposed amendment to the sports conflict of interest law aims to separate sports from politics for four years after officials leave their positions. The legislation seeks to ensure that political connections do not influence sports organizations and funding. A general debate is scheduled for early November, with a final vote expected by the end of the month. Kálnoki-Kiss Attila, the state secretary for sports, emphasized the importance of transparency and fair play in sports governance. The law will come into effect 45 days after its announcement. The amendment has sparked reactions from sports clubs, particularly regarding the mention of Kubatov Gábor and Deutsch Tamás, who have faced calls for the repeal of the conflict of interest rule.
