Ukraine intercepting more Russian Geran-4 jet-powered drones, General Staff says
Ukraine's air defenses have intercepted nearly 60% of Russian Geran-4 drones in recent months, with rates reaching 80% during specific attacks. Fighter jets like F-16s and MiG-29s are crucial for these interceptions. The country is enhancing its short-range defenses amid a missile shortage, utilizing systems such as Gepard and Shilka, along with newer platforms and mobile fire groups. Ukraine is also testing new interceptor drones to counter the advanced Geran-5 drones, which pose a greater challenge due to their speed and altitude. The military aims to develop faster interceptors as Russia increases its drone production.
