Ukrainian strike reportedly damages chemical plant in Russia's Voronezh
A Ukrainian drone attack likely targeted the Voronezhsintezkauchuk chemical plant in Voronezh, Russia, according to independent media. The plant, owned by Sibur, produces materials used in military applications. Local authorities reported fires at multiple sites, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to 17 others. Governor Aleksandr Gusev stated that Russian air defenses intercepted numerous drones, but the effectiveness of these defenses remains unclear. Ukrainian sources claimed responsibility for the attack, which aligns with Ukraine's strategy of striking deep into Russian territory to weaken military capabilities. This incident follows a previous attack on the same facility in September.
