ULS and IPO will be able to hire under exceptional regime
The Portuguese Ministry of Health has authorized the hiring of up to 150 permanent doctors by Local Health Units and Portuguese Oncology Institutes to address urgent staffing needs until the end of 2026. This exceptional measure, effective from October 28, allows these entities to fill vacant positions under specific conditions. Doctors eligible for hiring must not have indefinite public contracts or have held such contracts in the past three months. The hiring process requires a request to the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service, which will evaluate proposals based on various criteria, including service needs and financial impact. Monthly reporting of contracts is mandated to ensure transparency and accountability.
