A passenger on the train: "The blow was very strong"

A train accident in Urda, Toledo, resulted in at least 46 fatalities after a collision between an AVE and an Iryo train. Eyewitness Miguel Ángel Pérez Laguna described the impact as extremely strong, noting that the Iryo's fuselage was thrown into the air. Another witness reported a sudden stop, with passengers being thrown down the aisle and many injuries and fatalities. Emergency services, including firefighters and medical helicopters, are on-site to assist. Initial reports suggest the AVE may have collided with the Iryo from behind, causing two Iryo carriages to derail. Renfe has initiated ticket changes for affected passengers due to the disruption of the Madrid-Andalusia high-speed line.
