Unique airplane returned to Krakow. Restored Iskierka at the Aviation Museum
On Wednesday, the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow introduced a restored PZL M26 Iskierka aircraft, the second of its kind in Poland. Built from parts acquired from PZL Mielec, the restoration highlights Polish engineering and the history of the Mielec aviation industry. The Iskierka, developed in the 1980s, aimed to create a modern training aircraft for military pilots and aeroclub members. Despite initial development, economic challenges prevented mass production, with some planes sold to the USA as M26 Airwolf. This new exhibit is the fourth aircraft added to the museum's collection this year, which includes over 200 aircraft and is located on the site of a former military airport.
