Tomar and Autonomous University of Lisbon create consortium
The Polytechnic University of Tomar (UPT) and the Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL) have formed a consortium to enhance higher education through new courses, research projects, and academic exchanges. This partnership aims to strengthen regional development and improve educational offerings. The agreement includes the establishment of new study cycles, research units, and community services, with the consortium based at UPT's campus. UPT's rector emphasized the need for collaboration with local economic and social agents to retain talent in the region. The strategy also involves investments in teaching and research, including a new pedagogical complex and laboratory upgrades. The consortium's leadership will alternate between the two universities every three years, focusing on regional needs and student attraction.
