Acting Chargé d'Affaires Gábor Gergics emphasized the courage of the heroes of 1956, who changed the course of history and paved the way for a free and democratic Hungary. He noted that Hungarians chose Europe during the revolution, highlighting their European identity. The embassy's post also mentioned that the Hungarian struggle inspired other Central European nations to resist oppression.
