Kremlin official contacted Germany: The attack in Leipzig will not be the last

In early August, three drones with explosives targeted Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany, a key transport hub for military aid to Ukraine. One drone hit a transport plane but did not explode, while another collided with a different aircraft, and a third detonated near the airport's border. German officials considered invoking NATO's Article 5 if casualties had occurred. U.S. intelligence views the incident as part of a broader Russian campaign of sabotage against NATO countries, with warnings from Kremlin intermediaries suggesting more attacks could follow. Since August, several suspicious incidents linked to sabotage have been reported across Europe, including drone factory arsons and attacks on Starlink stations. German investigators connected the Leipzig attack to a Russian military intelligence unit, with suspects arrested in Serbia for acquiring explosives and drones.
