US envoy Witkoff to meet Putin in Russia after 'positive' talks with Zelensky

US envoy Steve Witkoff is set to meet President Putin in Saint Petersburg after positive discussions with Ukrainian President Zelensky in Oslo. Witkoff will present a peace proposal aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The talks come amid tensions between Zelensky and US President Trump, who has pressured Ukraine to negotiate with Russia. Zelensky expressed gratitude for resumed US intelligence support, which he deemed crucial for civilian safety. Trump's involvement includes a request for the release of an American captive in Ukraine, although it remains unclear if this will be addressed in the upcoming meeting. Zelensky emphasized the necessity of Ukraine's participation in any discussions about its future.
