Utrecht will continue to keep troublemakers out of the station area for the next two years
The municipality of Utrecht has extended a ban on certain areas around Utrecht Central Station until November 1, 2028, due to ongoing issues with aggressive behavior and crime. This measure, first implemented in September 2022, aims to address disturbances caused by addicts, homeless individuals, and criminals. Despite the ban, the number of incidents has not significantly decreased, with slight reductions in specific types of crime. The mayor emphasizes the need for both compassionate and strict approaches to tackle the problem effectively, acknowledging that solutions will take time.
