An elephant went wild during a religious procession in India, and in the chaos, the goddess's solid gold bracelets also disappeared.
An elephant named Somanna was chosen to carry a silver palanquin for the goddess Chamundeshwari during a religious event in Shivamogga, Karnataka. The original elephant was replaced due to injury. During the procession, Somanna panicked from the crowd noise and escaped, causing the palanquin and its contents, including a statue and several gold bracelets, to fall. While Somanna was relatively unharmed, it required sedation to calm down. Police have launched an investigation into the missing bracelets.
