Fake bank employees arrested for trying to defraud 85-year-old man from Kortenaken
Four fake bank employees were arrested in Diest and Kortenaken for attempting to rob an 85-year-old man of his bank cards. The incident occurred on October 20 when the victim received a call from someone posing as a bank employee, claiming he was a victim of phishing. The victim alerted a family member, who contacted the police. Officers monitored the area and arrested the minor suspect nearby, while three others were apprehended later in Diest, with bank cards and card readers found in their vehicle. Thanks to the victim's vigilance and police response, no financial loss occurred. A judicial investigation is ongoing to determine if the suspects are linked to similar crimes. Police advise caution with suspicious calls, emphasizing that bank employees do not collect cards at home.
