From Dries Van Noten and Versace to climate and transmigrants: new expo at BRUSK brings sea, humanity, and fashion together

The new exhibition 'Hoogtij' at BRUSK in Brugge explores the relationship between the sea, humanity, and fashion. Featuring swimwear from designers like Dries Van Noten and brands such as Versace and Chanel, the exhibit also includes sculptures and video art addressing social issues like climate change and migration. Curator Karen Van Godtsenhoven emphasizes the sea's historical impact on Brugge and its influence on artists and designers. The exhibition is divided into themes reflecting sea levels, starting with 'Laagtij,' showcasing the joy of water, and concluding with 'Hoogtij,' which tackles contemporary issues. Notably, artist Abdul Rahman Katanani created a barbed wire wave, symbolizing the sea as a dangerous border.
