From Sunday, another two-euro charge will be imposed on products ordered from outside the EU.
Starting November 1, an EU handling fee of two euros will be applied to all online purchases from outside the EU, regardless of product value. This fee is in addition to a previously introduced three-euro customs charge for packages valued up to 150 euros. The new fee aims to help cover the costs of processing and inspecting the increasing number of low-value shipments entering the EU. The fee will be charged per product type, not per package, impacting platforms like Temu and Shein. The EU Commission emphasizes that the fee may be passed on to consumers, who should be informed of total costs upfront. The handling fee is part of a broader customs reform aimed at improving data collection and compliance for goods entering the EU.
