There is life in the universe, the commander of the Bundeswehr is sure of that. However, he described another threat from the heavens.
Michael Traut, head of the German military's space command, believes in the existence of extraterrestrial life but sees greater threats from human-made issues. He emphasizes the need for the Bundeswehr to enhance its space capabilities, particularly in secure satellite communications, to reduce reliance on private companies. Traut highlights risks from space debris and hostile state activities, particularly from Russia, which disrupts satellite services. Germany plans to invest 35 billion euros to strengthen its space infrastructure and increase the number of military satellites significantly.
