Sale of TAP. Government has already signed a contract with Lufthansa

The privatization of TAP progresses with the signing of a contract between the Portuguese government and Lufthansa, formalizing the sale of 49.9% of the airline. The agreement was signed in the presence of key officials, including Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr. The deal follows Lufthansa's winning bid of €1.201 billion, surpassing Air France-KLM's offer. The government retains 51% ownership and majority control on the board. The next step involves European Commission evaluation for competition compliance, expected to conclude by mid-2028. Full integration of TAP into Lufthansa is projected between 2029 and 2030, with significant fleet expansion planned.
