Suspects of human smuggling with rubber boat near Cadzand remain in custody longer
Two Sudanese men arrested for human smuggling will remain in custody for two more weeks. They are suspected of transporting 36 Afghan migrants, including six minors, on a motorless rubber boat that became unmanageable. The adults have not applied for asylum and are being accommodated, while the minors have been transferred to Ter Apel. It appears that the migrants did not intend to reach the Netherlands, as boats often travel from France to the UK. The authorities do not plan to increase coastal patrols, viewing this incident as isolated.
