Forgotten blockbuster to be seen again in Ghent and Bruges almost 100 years after its premiere: "Restoration is a miracle"

The lost German musical 'Ich glaub' nie mehr an eine Frau' from 1929 will be screened again in Ghent and Bruges after restoration. The film, featuring tenor Richard Tauber, was a major hit in the 1930s. Professor Daniël Biltereyst from UGent discovered a copy in Brussels, leading to a restoration using incomplete copies from Vienna and Lisbon. The film's themes of longing and taboo subjects resonated with audiences, making it a classic. It will be shown during the autumn break, and Biltereyst is curious about modern audience reactions.
