Moving 13 meters in 9 hours: Vught station building is in a new location

The monumental train station building in Vught has been successfully relocated 13.6 meters to the east. The operation, which began early in the morning, concluded at 5:01 PM, attracting hundreds of spectators. Although the move took longer than expected due to careful adjustments, the event was celebrated by onlookers, some of whom brought snacks and drinks. The building will settle further into the ground over the next two weeks as it rests on its new foundation. This relocation was necessary for the construction of a fourth track between Den Bosch and Vught, which will be placed where the station originally stood. The station, a national monument, is significant for its historical role during World War II, serving as a transit point for thousands of Jews and other prisoners.
