Caregiver at Beekse Bergen operated on after panther attack, situation 'serious'
A female zookeeper was attacked by two Persian panthers while working alone, leading to serious injuries. Colleagues heard her calls for help and managed to separate the animals before emergency services arrived. The zoo stated that the protocols were followed, but an investigation is ongoing to determine what went wrong, as there are no cameras in the enclosure. The zookeeper has 25 years of experience, with eight years in the predator section, and was conscious when transported to the hospital by helicopter.
