Veterinarians submit petition to the AR to lower VAT on pet care

The Ordem dos Médicos Veterinários submitted a petition to the Assembly of the Republic, gathering around 8,000 signatures to reduce VAT on pet care services from 23% to 6%. This initiative reflects a widespread concern among citizens about making veterinary care more affordable. The petition's significant support indicates a growing awareness of the veterinary profession's role in animal and public health. The OMV has engaged with political parties to advocate for this VAT reduction in the 2027 State Budget, emphasizing the importance of this issue for the 2.2 million families with pets in Portugal.
