Veterinarians submit petition to lower VAT
The Ordem dos Médicos Veterinários (OMV) is presenting a petition to the Assembly of the Republic, aiming to reduce the VAT on veterinary services for companion animals from 23% to 6%. The petition has gathered around 8,000 signatures, reflecting widespread public concern about making veterinary care more accessible. The OMV emphasizes the importance of this issue, noting that approximately 2.2 million families in Portugal own at least one pet. The petition's delivery is seen as a pivotal moment in advocating for this tax reduction, with the OMV having engaged with political parties to support this initiative in the 2027 State Budget.
