Residents' travel falls in the second quarter for the first time in two years
In the second quarter, tourist trips by residents in Portugal fell by 1.5% year-on-year, totaling 5.9 million, marking the first decline in two years. This decrease was primarily due to a 3.8% drop in domestic travel, which accounted for 4.8 million trips. Conversely, trips abroad rose by 10.0%, reaching 1.1 million, which helped mitigate the overall decline. In the previous quarter, domestic travel had increased by 3.4%.
