Five people rescued who drifted for three months on the Pacific Ocean
A group of five individuals drifted approximately 5,400 kilometers to a remote island in Kiribati after their boat went missing three months earlier. They were part of a nine-member group that set out on a short journey between Micronesian islands but never arrived. The U.S. Coast Guard conducted a search but ceased operations after ten days. The boat was discovered by villagers on Fanning Island, and the survivors received medical assistance before being flown to Kiritimati Island. Details about their survival remain unclear, and the fate of the other group members is unknown. Similar rescues have occurred in the region recently.
