Five people rescued after three months adrift in the Pacific Ocean

Five individuals were rescued near Kiribati after their boat went missing for three months in the Pacific Ocean. They were part of a group of nine that set out on July 30 for a short journey between the islands of Murilo and Ruo but encountered a storm. The U.S. Coast Guard and Navy searched for ten days before suspending their efforts. The boat was found approximately 5,400 kilometers from their original destination, and it remains unclear how they survived at sea for so long. The fate of the other four passengers is unknown. Recently, there have been several missing persons and rescue operations in the area, including an 18-year-old from Papua New Guinea who survived 41 days at sea.
