Vitézy: From April, the operation of the motorway network may return to the Hungarian Public Road Authority
A draft agreement is being negotiated for the Hungarian Public Road Management to take over highway operations from MKIF Zrt. starting April 1, 2027. Minister Vitézy Dávid emphasized the goal of returning highway management to state ownership. He noted that MKIF's contracts contain outdated elements and merely involve operational tasks, questioning the justification for a 35-year outsourcing. He argued that the arrangement resembles simple operation rather than a true concession.
