Dávid Vitézy: Instead of a Chinese university, affordable housing will be built in the Student City
Hungarian Minister Dávid Vitézy announced plans for a new affordable housing district in Budapest, replacing a previously proposed Chinese university site. He visited the future location with EU Commissioner Dan Jørgensen, emphasizing the project's aim to create thousands of dormitory spaces and community areas. Vitézy criticized the previous government's obstruction of the project, which was initially intended for the Fudan University. Following a change in government, the area was reclaimed, and development plans are set to resume with EU funding. The goal is to establish a livable, accessible, and green neighborhood that addresses housing issues for young people and low-income residents, serving as a model for similar projects in other Hungarian cities.
